You Don’t Have to Drive Here… But It Helps!

Most guests arrive at The Prairie Creek Inn by car.

Some arrive by truck.

A few arrive by motorcycle during the summer months.

And then there was the guest who arrived by helicopter.

As Innkeepers, we’ve become accustomed to seeing vehicles pull into the driveway. What we don’t often see is an aircraft touching down on a snowy winter morning in front of the Inn.

Needless to say, it got our attention.

For a brief moment, we wondered if Expedia had introduced a new booking category called “Fly-In Accommodation.” We checked our website just to make sure we hadn’t accidentally listed “helipad service” among our amenities.

Thankfully, the guest was simply looking for a unique winter getaway and had pre-arranged his aerial arrival.

The helicopter settled gently onto the snow-covered grounds, looking perfectly at home against the backdrop of towering spruce trees and our log-style buildings. It was the kind of sight that makes you stop what you’re doing, grab a camera, and think, “Well, this is a unique experience.”

One of the benefits of staying at Prairie Creek Inn is escaping the noise and stress of city life. Most guests accomplish this by driving a couple of hours from Edmonton or Calgary.

This guest chose to skip the highways altogether.

No construction delays.

No traffic lights.

No wondering whether the weather report was accurate.

Just a direct flight to the front door.

We’re happy to report that the helicopter guests enjoyed the same Prairie Creek experience as every other guest: comfortable accommodations, peaceful surroundings, fresh country air, and a chance to unwind.

The arrival method may have been extraordinary, but the welcome was exactly the same.

So, if you’re planning a visit to Prairie Creek Inn, remember that there are many ways to get here.

Car.

Truck.

Motorcycle.

SUV.

And apparently… helicopter. Just please don’t ask us where the valet parking for helicopters is located. We’re still working on that.
